Yeah. My mom is. Or was, I guess, immortal. And I might be too? At least when I get back to normal? So I've just been stuck thinking about that means for me for a while. And she's not going to be around to have those conversations with me.

it's my reality now, and i'm working up from there. did you always know you were gonna end up like your mom?

I kind of assumed I would, but I never really thought about it. I assumed she'd be around for me to talk to her about it when it started to be important. She wasn't, though.

I'm not even sure that I am! But... I'm wondering now.

yeah, no real way to tell as long as we're here.

i was killed in action, but then i woke up perfectly fine. took me by surprise, to say the least, so the possibility never dawned on me. it wasn't supposed to be real.

I've... never been killed. I just know my mother didn't age.

we don't age either, apparently, but it's more like a healing factor. did joe explain how it works for us?

yeah. you can't be killed permanently, you don't age.

it makes fighting easier when you can come back from shit like a broken neck

but that's about the only easy thing about it

i haven't really had a lot of time to really sit down with it all yet

no, i don't think it is either. thinking about it, it seems really hard.

some of the people with me... they've been alive for so long, it's still kinda unfathomable that i might be around that long too

how old was your mom?

I... don't actually know. Older than my dad. He would probably be in his fifties now, if he was still here. I think... Mom must have been over a hundred? Maybe older? We never really celebrated birthdays.

Not hers anyway.

he wasn't immortal too?

seems like it'd be hard to be with someone, unless they were the same way

No, my dad aged like like anyone else, as far as I know. He died when I was very young.

But yeah, it does seem like that would be hard. I know my mom loved him a lot.

my dad died when i was a kid too, but no immortality was involved on my parents' part.

is there a way for you to know for sure whether or not your mom passed it along? not here, obviously, but whenever you're home again.

I don't know. There probably is, but I wasn't thinking about it much before I met Joe, which I guess is weird. Too much other stuff on my mind.

is it common in your world? because otherwise it doesn't seem that weird to not think of it much

Not particularly, as far as I know of.

yeah, there's only about 5 of us from the sound of it. i don't think the number gets much higher than 4 or 5, from what andy and the rest have told me

immortality was just the stuff out of fiction before i died and woke up, you know? it's hard to conceptualize until it happens

It's never been fiction for me, exactly, but it's never felt so immediate. I can see how wrapping your head around it would be hard.

andy only introduced me to all of it after kidnapping me, so it's safe to say they've kept it under wraps pretty well

but i don't think there's one single way to handle it

No, I don't think there is. Everyone is going to have their own way of dealing with it./span>
